About Hilary

Born in Italy to parents from Minnesota, Hilary Thavis grew up loving music — especially folk music — from Woody Guthrie to Italian folk singers like Fabrizio De André. But it was the blues that ultimately captured her attention. In past years she toured extensively with the band Gaia Groove, performing in the United States as well as Europe and fine-tuning a repertoire of original and cover songs in both English and Italian. Her album, Trouble & Truth, is inspired by various musical currents, including blues, folk and jazz. It was released in 2011. A second album is currently in the works.

Hilary, who first appeared on the radio show A Prairie Home Companion in 2010 at the Tanglewood Music Festival in MA, was a guest performer on their 2013 summer cruise from Barcelona to Venice, their 2015 spring cruise in the Eastern Caribbean, and their 2016 summer Alaskan cruise, as well as a number of shows in between (in Saint Paul, New Orleans, Memphis, Minneapolis, LA, Chicago). Hilary currently lives in St Paul, where she writes and records music, keeps close to the Mississippi and braves the cold winters. Stay tuned for upcoming events.
